Fall Hiking in Silverton, CO

Local Trails

Christ of the Mines Shrine - Located northwest of Silverton, this is an easy 1 mile walk that provides a nice overlook of the town of Silverton. Great for an afternoon walk before the train leaves.

Cement Creek - Located north of Silverton, starts at Memorial Park and takes you on a peaceful walk along the river.

Kendall Mountain - located southeast of Silverton, across the Animas River, past Cement Creek. This trail veers right and wraps around Kendall Mountain. It is 6.5 miles, one-way.

Lackawana Mill - located southeast of Silverton, starting at the Kendall Mountain Recreation Area, this trail provides a relaxing walk through a wooded area.

Old Hundred Gold Mine Tour in Silverton, CO

Experience the secret world of the underground gold miner as you tour the Old Hundred, a mine that operated from 1904 until the 1970s. Put on a yellow rain slicker and hard hat before boarding a rail car that will take you 1500 feet underground into the actual mining operation. 2008 Blues & Brews Festival in Telluride
